some crack ideas just won't let go....

Scully couldn't believe it - There was Mulder sprawled out on his couch, with that weird bastard who'd caused all the trouble the previous week.

Explosions, a trail of dead Yakuza in San Francisco, and a target that moved faster than anything she'd ever seen. Including that experimental jet.

A week of tracking and finally Mulder had caught him up long enough for a brief conversation which he wouldn't even tell to Scully, fobbing her off with some ridiculous story about ninja. Fine. Whatever. He'd tell her the truth eventually.

The weird guy was Japanese, and said his name was Obito, but Scully read katakana well enough to doubt that based on the markings on his equipment.

When Scully was captured, Mulder was across the room, gun drawn but without a clear shot, and she stood still, gun muzzle at her nape while Mulder demanded the release of his partner.

A chirping crackle and suddenly Scully had stumbled forward, free and Mulder was there saying "Yeah... team-mate... mine... thanks" and back up was finally there, and the coroner's van too.

Finally finished writing up an autopsy that would no doubt be buried as a 'freak occurence of ball lightning', Scully leaned in Mulder's doorway.

The television was on, and although she couldn't see it, the boom-chicka-bow-bow soundtrack told her what was on.

Apparently some preferences held true no matter which cross-dimensional socially mal-adapted genius you ended up with...

Scully crossed the floor, and shoved Mulder over to make room for her on the couch.

Oh good. It was the remake (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0124491/usercomments) of Double Indemnity. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0036775/) That was one of her favorites.
