I wonder what determines whether or not you/we can read it, if only 55 people out of 100 can read it without difficulty. It surprised me in the same way I was surprised when I found out that not everyone can read words upside down. The whole first/last letter thing makes sense -- too bad that isn't how most of my typos work out!

I seem to recall that it was linguistics/brain research published last year? Maybe?

And I don't know about the 55/100 thing - because I think I only know people who can read it. (But, if it's genetic, and I first ran across it in the family circle, that might make sense).

It would be interesting to hear from folks who can't read it.

There is 0 visibility out there right now, and they are calling for severe thunderstorms for later, all of which is making me even less excited about driving to KW. Hee, my mum sent me this one once! It is amazing how the mind can just . . . do that. You don't even have to struggle, you can *skim* read it. Blessed brain, sometimes your weirdness works in wonderful ways ^^

I think that when I've first seen it, I don't even realize that I'm reading scrambled words for a moment. It is really cool.

I didn't realize I needed glasses for a while, I think because I was using word shapes to compensate for not seeing the letters clearly.

Actually hey say that nearly everybody can read that, not just 55%.

That makes a lot more sense. It's interesting that the urban myth evolution of this is towards exclusivism - making people feel somewhat special that they are part of the slight majority that can read it.
