a)Because our conversations veer madly all over the place in a manner not unlike a drunken rabbit. Obviously now I need to go find some poor pathetic rabbit to get drunk. Or maybe a squirrel. I know that there's at least two living near the student union...

b) Being an ocean away from my family. I would find that so hard. Strangely enough, I find my parents (Okay, my mother) more tolerable because I'm a whole ocean away from home. It's even better that I have a 12 hour time difference too. Plus I'm now two states closer to my sister. What I do miss is the easy familiarity of knowing that someone was asleep in the same room as you. That there was someone with you, that you could lie back on the bed in the dark and talk to them. It's something I've grown up with, and when I went to NZ, I actually had a roommate (for two years) that I could do that with. Now that, I do miss. A little.

c) I'm a good cook. Yay! That totally means you should bake me cookies. and send them to me. :D

d) I remember you sitting in my living room, one hand wrapped around a steaming mug, and the other waving as you talked. The late morning sun streamed in through the windows, and you glowed against the dull green twill of the couch. Damn, that was a good one. Kinda chilly though, and I had to tuck my toes under me, cause my socks were thin, and spring's not yet warm enough. (That kinda reminds me of Mistful's Draco.)

e) Fish, eh? Apparently someone's done a spatial cognition experiment on blind mexican cavefish. She also did something about the handedness of the fish, whether fish prefer to swim with a wall on their left or their right, and so on. But that one I wasn't so sure. She did some pretty elegant experiments with little blocks in the environment of fish, and so on and so forth.

f) I saw! Boobies. :P I think the green thingy was nice. I totally didn't notice the nails. >.>

g) Really? I always have to think through my own assumptions whenever we talk. :P

My feet are cold right now, 'cause I forgot to put on socks this morning.

So - How do blind fish build spatial cognition? Through bumping into things? Or... I don't know - feeling in the water? We were mesmerized by a science clip on tv the other day watching people figure out how hammerhead sharks see.

*hugs you* I totally should send you a care package. But I'm TERRIBLE at getting to the post office. *hides from Nene*

heh. I like cold feet actually. Reminds me that I'm alive and awake.

Yup! THat's how we think blind cave fish work! They feel in the water cause of the lateral line system they have running down their sides. It's like if you tossed a blind person in a room - they'd go around and around till they learnt where everything was - sort of touching, but a little further than that. Like touching with their ears.

Isn't it? :DDDDD

I only just discovered that not ALL fish have a lateral line system! Some of them don't have the canal system, only the skin surface neuromasts, called the superficial neuromasts. Like having haircells on their skin. Of course these fish are probably sighted fish which rely on many other things to navigate, but isn't it damn cool?
