Naruto doesn't belong to me. These stories are PG13 or R.
Sasuke is spending time in the basement with Ibiki, so you know it's not going to be any fun.
When Ibiki had joined T&I, all those years ago, he had discovered its secrets, slowly, room by room. Unsurprisingly, the young interrogator had a love of discovery, of finding out pieces and fitting them together. All these years later, he still relishing the simple pleasure of knowing the map of the rooms, the unexpected features in some of them. He remembered the simple, almost boyish pleasure when he'd found the room with the cold underwater stream snaking through the floor. The room was dark - no lights, with a damp mineral smell that was only ever temporarily overwhelmed by the smells of his profession. Blood. Shit. Fear.
It was that room he directed Sasuke Uchiha brought to, when Shikamaru, Kakashi and Sakura arrived home from a rather routine mission with a rather unexpected captive. He brought a small kerosene lamp into the room with him, a stool, and a piece of knitting he wasn't happy with... something he would have no qualms shoving down someone's throat, if he felt the urge. Ibiki knit and waited for Sasuke to regain consciousness, saw the first stirring response to the pain of his broken nose, watched the little bastard breath through his open mouth. Watched the moment when Sasuke decided there wasn't much to be gained by continuing to pretend to be asleep. Watched those red eyes open and gave the kid only a moment to register who it was before he was across the room, and holding Sasuke's head underwater.
Keeping his hand tightly fisted in the black hair, and his knee embedded in the small of Sasuke's back, he remembered the guarded look on Kakashi's face when they'd arrived with their unconscious prize. He hoped Kakashi had run into one of their other friends on his way out of ANBU - someone who would keep him company for the next day or so. He thought of Kakashi's unraveling after this brat had left Konoha, and held the smaller, younger man under the freezing cold water, water turning Ibiki's hands white, until the body under his went just so slightly limp. Then he hauled back and threw Sasuke on the stone floor. He waited until Sasuke's breathing steadied out - too quickly, Ibiki thought, as he reached for Sasuke again. If he feigned breathing trouble a bit longer, he would have bought himself more of a break... teaching strong shinobi to appear weak was always difficult, he mused, as he plunged Sasuke down into the water again.
The first day went on, Sasuke interminably half drowned, past when Ibiki's hands were aching and then numb from the cold. Finally, Ibiki decided he'd better deal with the flickering chakra presence outside the door. He punched Sasuke viciously in the stomach, and left him weakly retching water in the dark.
Outside, Kakashi leaned against the wall, reading. "You're not actually in ANBU, at the moment" Ibiki observed "And even when you were, your clearance didn't include the interrogation cells."
"Ah. True." agreed Kakashi amiably, "But seeing as I hospitalized two of your agents to get down here, I'm in no hurry to leave. The medics will have my head."
Ibiki considered how few shinobi could make the man in front of him do something he really didn't want to... there weren't many, and Ibiki was far too fond of using whatever, whoever, came in his path as tools to try confronting Kakashi further.
"If you're so keen, you're on guard duty, then." he said shortly, "I'm going to get something to eat." And Ibiki left, boots treading softly down the corridor, his friend pretending to read outside the door. He could barely hear the sound of running water.
