synchronicity
Nov. 22nd, 2007 08:44 amThe lead story on the CBC (national public broadcaster) this morning is about the Commonwealth. Unsurprising, perhaps, since the first ministers are apparently meeting in Uganda - but
darksideofstorm - I just about fell off my chair when they started in on the Commonwealth.
For those of you more concerned with football and turkey - the current hot issue in the Commonwealth is whether to suspend Pakistan unless they reinstate their constitution. Um. Today.
Today's Fun Commonwealth Fact: population of Commonwealth countries ranges from 1.1 billion people in India to eleven thousand people in Tuvalu.
If you're a Commonwealth blogger, consider yourself tagged for a Commonwealth themed post. We'll all hang out and spell humour properly.
In other media - Beowulf is terrible, terrible, bad, bad, bad... in a way that might get you shushed by the other people in the movie theatre who don't seem to find it as unrelentingly hilarious. Apart from the naked fighting and shouting, my fave part was the dragon popping it's head over the stone bridge. Like bad children's puppetry, good lord.
Comic Book Villains - if it pops up on your movie channels or video store - is a gem of a movie - like finding a run of back issues in a forgotten box. Comic Books! Mayhem! Villainy! Cary Elwes! Strippers! - it has everything.
And lastly - I was all set to give up on Criminal Minds, because - hello - without Mandy Patinkin, it was lacklustre. Until last night - an ep centreing on Garcia - the cute and idiosyncratic computer analyst. Nicholas Brendon, I hardly ecognized you! (oh Xander Harris, how we've missed you) And the curtains Garcia was hiding behind? I HAVE THOSE CURTAINS!
