Dec. 1st, 2007 01:23 pmOn the excellent advice of
jbmcdragon I've decided to name my Inner Critic "Charlie". Yes, like Charlie the Unicorn.
JB is full of wisdom (which, if you know her, is not likely news)... and I'm going to try treating my Inner Critic voice as a misunderstood dog for a few days.
Hey... It's cheaper, and considerably more fun than therapy. So I think Charlie is an appropriately doggy name, and I'm sure there's some deeper meaning and Truth of Life to Charlie's Trip to Candy Mountain.
One of the things that JB reminded me about the Inner Critic voice is while mine is sometimes unrelenting, and unhelpful... it's also sometimes really constructive.
So my inner critic - I mean Charlie and I are going to g orun a few errands. And then maybe curl up on the couch. And if Charlie starts barking irritably at nothing, I'll remind her that we've already gone out for a walk, and it's snowy and absolutely fine to curl up and watch a movie on a winter afternoon. And misunderstood dogs can have a nap and stop barking.

Do inner critic puppies grow up?
Now I am wondering what animal my inner critic would be...
Keep the Breakfast Club icons coming. They are a beam of sunshine shining right into my strange day.

Hmmmm....
I am afraid that my inner critic most resembles a tasmanian devil.

Mostly nocturnal, vicious, with a terrible fear-inducing screech.
Sounds about right.
