Richard Woolsey templed his fingers, and visibly restrained himself from burying his face in his hands. "So after Teyla explained that you hadn't meant to propose marriage...?"
Teyla nodded "I believe that everything has been straightened out for the best. However, if John could refrain from other inadvertent marriage proposals this week, I would be grateful."
John's mouth twisted down petulantly, and Richard forestalled the inevitable never saw it coming disclaimer by closing his laptop on the mission report. "Very well, post mission check at the infirmary. Make sure Bertie Wooster here doesn't skip out."
Ronon barked out a short laugh, and Teyla's smiled before John turned to her in consternation. "Who, what?" he asked plaintively.
"Oh my God, no no no" sputtered Rodney. "Tell me that you two haven't been watching BritComs with our illustrious leader here. You blew John and I off last week for P. G. Wodehouse?" Teyla raised an eyebrow at him, and Rodney changed tacks "Although, if Sheppard here is Wooster, then that makes me Jeeves, which, I must say is only fitting giving my genius ability to..."
But Ronon interuptted him. "No way are you Jeeves, McKay. Teyla is Jeeves."
Richard gave up. His face went down between his splayed fingers, his shoulders shaking with laughter.

Two months later, Richard watched as the lead team of Atlantis took the stage during the annual concert night. Teyla was wearing a borrowed black suit of his, straightening glasses on a side table, until John and Ronon took the stage, dressed in the clothes they'd been given on M2Z-1Y6, which bore an uncanny resemblance to Harris tweed. When Rodney took the stage dressed in drag, the room erupted in laughter, and Richard stood beside the makeshift stage curtain and wiped tears of laughter from his eyes, and Ronon substituted "What ho, Wooster" for his usual noncommital interjections, and Rodney and John acted out an accidental engagement that was freely adapted from mission reports, and Teyla, hair slicked back and voice steady, played Jeeves to John's hapless Wooster.
When Rodney raised his parasol (engineering degrees turned to props), and he and John leaned behind it, catcalls were heard from the crowd. But it was only the team and Richard that saw that John cupped Rodney's chin in his hand and gave him a quick dirty kiss before breaking off and tugging the parasol down.
They finished the scene with Rodney's cheeks flushed, John looking somehow satisfied and hungry. Later, Ronon held out a chair at their table for Richard, and Teyla talked with him about humour as a tool in critiquing class systems, and John and Rodney stayed only as long as they had to, before leaving the hall, John's fingers brushing the small of Rodney's back.
