Video Spam pt 3
Feb. 15th, 2007 01:56 pmFor any number of reasons, this is my offering to the universe today.
I think it's only fair to say at this point that if successive links to obscure british operas, and vintage american pop isn't your thing... this may not be the journal you are looking for. de-friend at will

Date: 2007-02-15 11:02 pm (UTC)The cheese factor is unreal.
mm... cheesee... *need to restock fondue fuel*
no subject
Date: 2007-02-16 02:05 am (UTC)and why i'm typing about cheese and not writing....well, my attention span, while generally pretty short in the first place, has been greatly decreased by the amount of tea i've drank this evening. weeeeee.....

Date: 2007-02-16 02:15 am (UTC)Neji would really like some alone time with Kiba, somewhere, maybe even with a bed and some nice sheets.
Cheese fondue is one of life's simple pleasures. Friday night is anime night for my son and I, cheese fondue would make an awesome match.

Date: 2007-02-16 03:17 am (UTC)i haven't had cheese fondue in forever, sophmore year of college or so. with grapes and hot dogs (no bread, i's allergic) mmmmmm....yum!
neji and kiba *sighs* this is why i've always been leery of writing chappie fic, because my inspiration is so schizophrenic. plus there's this silly o-fic that seriously taking up massive brain space....but soon, really *crosses fingers and prays to bunny gods*

Date: 2007-02-16 03:19 am (UTC)I likes me some silly.

Date: 2007-02-16 03:28 am (UTC)You're allergic to bread? Gluten allergy?
And we watch YTV (Toronto based) - the changed the lineup in January...
Naruto, Eureka 7, Zatch Bell, Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach...
no subject
Date: 2007-02-16 03:46 am (UTC)i've seen all of those but eureka 7...fma and inuyasha were my very first forays into anime. like two years ago *ashamed*
ugh, gluten free for 11 years now, and i still remember how real bread tastes *whimpers* but as long as i can get my cocoa pebbles in the morning, no one will get hurt (though if they keep adding malt to everything i'll swear allegiance to whatever diety i need to to smite them all! the bastards...)
and the o-fic is not so much silly 'haha' as it is silly 'doh, why are you taking up neji/kiba space!'...i've only managed to write one mildly humorous fic so far
and i'm sorry, i'm totally spamming your comments page now :/

(And why ashamed - my kids dragged me into anime a few years ago. I read a cool article last year on www.tomatonation.com on Sars' opinions on being a geek.
not that I'm saying you're a geek, but I certainly am. She was writing about fads being named geeky; and argued that it's not so much about the content that we geek out about: Star Trek or Naruto or Scrabble or whatever... it's the obsessive, creative, culture building process that makes it geeky. And that made a lot of sense to me... I'm quite happy in this corner of fandom; because it's a geek culture that fits for me, and I like the people I've met here... but we could be talking Buffy, or books *grins* and I'd be just as happy. So maybe it's a kind of intersection of interests and personalities.Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't actually ask to see my "girl who overthinks simple things" geek credentials, did you.

Date: 2007-02-16 04:39 am (UTC)i don't always get the 'ashamed' thing either, despite the fact that i sometimes feel that way...i love the fandom, finding people who i relate to on things other than work or school. it is a comfy place to be, amongst fellow geeks who get it. and it has sparked this plethora of creativity in me, at a time in my life when i was feeling too tied to the real world, boring and as uninspiried as the next guy scrubbing shit for a living. for someone who's always lived too much in her head, it left me reeling and ungrounded (which somehow sounds wrong, ungrounded but normally head in the clouds, which is usually described as ungrounded...guh...anyway)
i think in part that the 'ashamed' comes from the fact that i do get terribly obsessive and if you combine that with my sometimes desperate need to not stand out...well, whether you're going to the movies five times a week to watch the same movie, or reading four books in one day, or lying in bed staring at the ceiling for hours, or writing anime porn...all of it indicates that you are maybe somehow different and i have been labeled 'different' by so many things outside my control that, as a result, i seek to appear as normal as i possibly can. [/amatuer psycology]
thankfully, this is changing, in large part to jake (who accepts it all and is amused by and really loves my inherent oddness/geekage) and the people here, who are all geeking about fandom and writing and so many things that get my blood up. hooray for finally embracing my inner geek!
and you thought you went all tangenty! (and sorry for the 'woe 'es me stuff...')
on a food allergy note: my bro is allergic to nearly everything! comparatively speaking, i feel pretty blessed to only have to cut the wheat, oats, barley and rye :)

fan gurl: why?!?!?! i just love naruto to pieces, i must join!
security: sorry, you need one of these to get in *points to SD badge*
fan gurl: what? what's that?
security: proof that you'll fit into the fandom
fan gurl: oh! ok! how do i get one?
security: well, the thing is, you seem happy and well adjusted and chock full of self-esteem...
fan gurl: that's a problem? but...but...everyone loves me! i'm all that is goodness and sweetness and light!
security: fine, don't say i didn't warn ya' *lets fan gurl in*
....*two minutes later, fan gurl comes hurtling out*
security: i did try to stop you.
fan gurl: *shuddering* they were angsting, and wangsting, and ranting all over the place. people were writing deathfics and smut!!! a couple of them were fighting over who's interpretation of sasuke was correct and another group was involved in something called "The Shipping Wars"! i'm pretty sure someone was crying in the dark, musty corner across from the soapbox! they all need help!
security: yeah...that's...well....
fan gurl: who'd want to go there?!?! they're all crazy!
security: yeah...well....oh, hi dr!
dr: all right jo? i'm just here to gather more data.
security: 'k, head on in, it's apparently wild in there today.
dr: *looks gleeful, nearly rubs hands together* good, good

Date: 2007-02-16 03:09 pm (UTC)The kind of geeky that makes you *sigh* and realize you have found your people.
You know, the ones who are funny and sarcastic and write smut and re-think anime into adult-appropriate silliness that can still turn you on - and lets you wear all of that black clothing (or pink, or whatever) from your youth.

Date: 2007-02-16 06:33 pm (UTC)I think the next thing we should add to the mad marketing scheme is an "Are You My People?" set... maybe like that kids book (god, I HATED that book), and with a survey. On handy cards to distribute. So, y'know, you don't actually have to talk to people until you've decided they are your type of people.
no subject
Date: 2007-02-16 11:28 pm (UTC)Yes, yes - cause it would be truly sad if the surveys meant you had to *talk with people* when you didn't want to!!!
In fact, if we could figure out some sort of hand signals, or other 'paralinguistic' way of figuring it out, that would be all the better!!!!!!
